1. Then, when he came to know that his worship was stopped, Indra became angry with the Nanda and other gopas. Krishna was the leader of all of them.
2. Indra inspired the group called Samvartaka, the destroyer of the clouds. Indra, who considered himself the master of all, became angry and said to the clouds.
3. These gopas who live in the forest! They have become very proud of their wealth. They are insulting the gods by touching the pulse of the mortal Krishna.
4. This means that they want to cross the ocean of existence through sacrifices that are like broken names and are only karma-form, and they abandon the knowledge of Brahman.
5. Those chatty, childish, arrogant, and simple-minded people who consider themselves learned have hurt me by taking refuge in the mortal Krishna!
6. Wash away the wealth of these gopas who are incited by Krishna, who are intoxicated with wealth. Destroy their animals.
7. I will follow you to Gokula with the mighty Vasujan riding on the Airavata. I want to destroy Nanda's Gokula.
Shri Shuka said -
8. Thus Indra gave the order and released all the bonds of the clouds and with great force he started to hit Gokula with great force.
9. The clouds, shining with lightning, roaring loudly and being pushed by strong winds, started to rain hail.
10. Thick clouds like a storm began to rain continuously. Such huge streams of water started flowing from the ground that its elevation became invisible.
11. Due to the heavy rain and the strong gusty wind, the animals started to shiver due to the cold. The Gopas and Gopis, who were shocked by the cold, then surrendered to Govinda.
12. All of them, drenched in the torrential rain, covered their heads and hair under their bodies and went to the feet of the Lord, shivering in the cold.
13. Krishna! Krishna! Oh great Lord! Lord! You are the master of this Gokula! Bhaktavatsala! Save us from the angry God.
14. Seeing all of them, battered and rendered unconscious by the blows of huge hailstones, the Lord realized that this was the work of the angry Indra!
15. The torrential rain and hail that fall even when it is not the rainy season, the huge and strong wind, all this is Indra's doing for our destruction, because we have not allowed his sacrifice to take place!
16. I will counter this well with my yoga. I will dispel the pride of wealth and the darkness of ignorance of those who consider themselves the masters of the three worlds because they are not in time.
17. It is not right for the gods, endowed with virtue, to be proud of their ownership. If these gods are dishonored by me, the result will be peace.
18. This Gokul has surrendered to me, I am their protector, I have accepted this. Therefore, I will protect him with my love. This is the vow I have taken.
19. Thus, Krishna easily held Govardhan Mountain high with one hand, just as a child holds an umbrella.
20. Then the Lord said to the Gopas, "Mother, father and all the people of Gokula! Take your cattle and sit happily under this mountain."
21. Do not be afraid that the mountain will fall at my hands. I have made arrangements to protect you from the wind and hail.
22. In this way, Krishna created faith in their hearts and then slowly they all entered under Govardhan with their money, cattle, and all their family members.
23. Forgetting everything, the pain of thirst and hunger, the expectation of happiness, the people of Gokula kept looking at Krishna. He had held the mountain for seven days, without moving a single step.
24. Hearing the effect of Krishna's yoga, Indra was very surprised. His pride was destroyed. He also broke that promise and covered himself with his clouds.
25. Seeing that the sky became clear, the sun began to appear, the stormy wind and heavy rain stopped, Krishna, the Govardhan bearer, He said,
26. "Gopas! Now leave your fear, come out with your women, children, cattle, etc. The heavy rain and storm have stopped now. The rivers have also subsided.
27. Then all the gopas came out with their cattle, women, children, old men, and carts full of goods.
28. Then the Lord, who is the ruler of all, easily placed the mountain in its place as it was before, while all the gopas were looking at it.
29. Then the gopas were filled with love. They ran to him and embraced Krishna. The gopis worshipped him with great love and performed his auspicious rituals with great joy with curd, milk and water and blessed him.
30. Yashoda, Rohini, Nanda, Balarama all became filled with love for Krishna and they embraced Krishna and blessed him.
31. King Parikshit! In heaven, the gods, the Siddhas, the Sadhyas, the Gandharvas, the Charanas, all became happy and showered flowers with great joy.
32. Parikshit and the gods in heaven blew the conch and the dundubhi, and the Gandharva king began to sing on the tumburu.
33. Parikshit! Then those who loved him began to walk around him. Hari then went to his Vraja with Balarama. The Gopis, delighted, singing such deeds of Hari that touched the heart, went to their Vraja.
